The day that dreams came true
Event and eventmaking in the case of the inauguration of Barack H. Obama
In this paper we intend to analyze theoretically and empirically the concept of event and eventmaking and its constitutive elements such as affect, liveness, ritualization, liminality and liminoidity.

Nostalgiske nationskonstruktioner
Publiceret i: Nordicom. Vol. 29, 4, 2007 pp. 47-56

Emotional Geography. Authenticity, Embodiment and Cultural Heritage
Allerede publiceret i : Ethnologia Europaea, Journal of European Ethnology, 36:2 2006 pp. 5-15.
This article proposes an alternative to the modernist structural manner of referring to and representing the Holocaust. Peter Eisenmann’s Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin is considered to be an example of emotional geography in which the visitor experiences a cool authentic inscription in the cultural heritage. Contrary to the gazing tourist consuming places, the witnessing visitor is invited to invest bodily in this place.

Vampire Live. Performative identitetsspil og medieret hybridform
Oprindeligt publiceret i: Anne-Marit Waade og Kjetil Sandvik (eds.) 2006 : Rollespil – i æstetisk, pædagogisk og kulturelt perspektiv. Aarhus: Aarhus Universitetsforlag.

The Eyewitness and the Affected Viewer. September 11 in the Media
Oprindeligt trykt i: Nordicom Review. Vol. 24, n. 2, dec. 2003 pp. 117-125..
This article investigates ways in which ethical and aesthetic effects combine in the representation of event on Denmark’s two main television channels (DR 1 and TV 2). The article argues that the formal elements in the presentation and representation of the event by the media are important to analyze because of their ability to affect and thereby mobilize the viewer.

Re-Investing Authenticity
Tourism, Place and Emotions
From the highly influential concept of ‘staged authenticity’ discussed by Dean MacCannell, to the general claim of longing for authenticity on behalf of all Western consumers, made by Joseph Pine and James Gilmore, it is obvious that the concept of authenticity is still worth considering. This ground-breaking book re-thinks and re-invests in the notion of authenticity as a surplus of experiential meaning and feeling that derives from what we do at / in places.

Responsible Consumers or Consuming Responsibility? 2007 (flere forfattere)
The globalised experience economy forefronts new ways of acting, living and relating for both consumers and organisations. In this article, we present an analysis and discussion of the global, cause related marketing campaign (RED) as an emblematic case for new ways of negotiating relations between consumers, organisations and distant Others in a globalised experience economy. The campaign has been criticised for blurring the boundaries between business and ethics. However, we argue that it is the philanthropy and commerce hybrid that facilitates and constructs new response strategies to the challenges of global social responsibility.

Performance of utopia in media-events 2007 (sammen med Dorthe Refslund Christensen)
This paper explores media events as constituting new mediated affective audience-communities. Our claim is that these communities must be analyzed as aesthetic, ritual and cultural performances of a utopian dimension of everyday life and a nostalgic dimension of the national imagined community. The cases are the royal wedding between the Danish crown prince Frederik and Ms Mary Elisabeth Donaldsson, May 14 2004 and the birth of the new Danish princess April 21 2007.

The nation as media event
Appearing in Inka Salvoraava Moring and Anna Roosvall (eds.) 2009: Communicating the Nation. Göteborg: Nordicom. (ikke annonceret endnu)
The article establishes an understanding of a post-national celebration of the Nation as media event and looks at the feeling of nostalgia as a privileged feeling, concerning the ‘shared’ past. The nostalgia is detected on different levels and the large audiences of media events or national heritage TV series are understood as hyper-modern performers of communities.
